Tatopani border point resumes temporarily

Tatopani Border

Nation's major trade border, Tatopani border has been opened temporarily after the Earthquake 2015. The border has been used as the major trade route between Nepal and China.

According to the Tatopani Customs Office, 20 cargoes entered Nepali territory carrying goods from Khasa within the past 24 hours after the Chinese authority agreed to send the stranded vehicles.

Over 400 containers of goods have been stuck in the godown, as per the Tatopani Customs Office. The customs office informed that 150 containers have entered Khasa to load materials. However, they have not been able to load goods due to a dispute between traders and godown operators. Customs Officer Dibyaraj Pokharel informed that around 300 empty cargoes are queuing up to enter Khasa from Tatopani border.

“Though the godown operators have been demanding store charge for a year, we will negotiate to bring all the stuck goods into Nepal,” he said, informing that all of the stranded goods will enter Nepal within two or three days.

Some of the stranded goods have already entered Nepal from other border points. Coordinator of Tatopani Naka Bachau Abhiyan Yudhir Poudel said they have been pressurising Nepali authorities to take an initiative to ease cargo movement.
